Roses limits access to the Cap de Creus Natural Park from 15 July to 31 August
The new measures are the result of the need to temporarily limit motorized access to this type of vehicle during the summer , as the repeated situations of high saturation produced each summer cause a pressure on the environment that is not compatible with the objectives. of protection of the natural park. At the same time, this saturation can pose a potential risk to users in the event of episodes or emergencies that require activating civil protection protocols. The new accessibility has the approval of the Cap de Creus Natural Park.
The time slots and limitation dates have been established according to a previous study carried out in recent years by the council, which has accounted for the volume of vehicles that accessed from June 15 to September 14, paying attention in which were the days of greater concurrence, hours of more circulatory intensity, etc. The result of this analysis is that the period of highest influx is from the third week of July to the end of August. The busiest time is 10 hours until noon and the days of the week with the most traffic and vehicle parking are on weekends.
Consequently, access will be limited between 15 July and 31 August from 10.30 am to 4.30 pm . The closure will be carried out by means of a physical barrier on the road to Cala Montjoi , at the site of the viewpoint of Punta Falconera. This space allows optimal conditions for the location of the control point, as well as to facilitate the return of vehicles in the necessary cases, deriving the traffic back to Roses through the track that runs from Punta Falconera to Almadrava. . El punt de control estarà gestionat per una empresa contractada per l'Ajuntament, amb personal que parlarà català, castellà, francès i anglès.
Phase "0"
In parallel with the application of these measures, the City of Roses is already working on a long-term plan that will include the "smart" and computerized regulation of access to the Park, as well as the adequacy of 'physical spaces according to needs. The protocol that will be applied from July 15 this year, therefore, can be considered a "Phase 0" of this broader process and will be gradually adapted and improved each year to be the most efficient and guaranteed with the safety of people and the protection of the environment.
